Where are you trying to sign in to ??

What "sign in screen" are you referring to ??

Sorry. Windows 8
I assume that you want to change the email address, that you use to sign into your laptop, when you turn the laptop on ??
Question Author
Yes. For my sins - or foolishness - I'm now a BT customer.
Ok, I think this is what you're after:

Control panel >>> user accounts

Then click on, "manage your credentials".

Then, "windows credentials".

Then under, "generic credentials", there will be a few accounts. The top one will prob be your email address (it is on mine anyway).
Click on the drop down arrow on the side and click "edit".

Change your info and don't forget to click "save".

I hope this is what you're after :)

TKS Gizmonster. I believe that I followed your instructions to the letter, replacing my old email address and P/W with the new + Save, but after shut down and start, nothing has changed on the start up screen.

I tried again and this time the address after going into generic credentials is

02rerggpqmml (+ its P/W)

which I don't recognise. I hesitate to changee that in case all goes to pot.

Does 02reg... mean anything to you?
Sorry I don't know what happened there :(

This should do it:

That frits me to death and makes my heart miss a beat!

I shall have to pluck up courage for tomorrow, but if I do nothing will all still be well apart from the wrong email address appearing?

There my be a problem in that Virgin told me it cd take up to 3 months before they close my a/c (though I'm not being charged any longer).

On this new laptop the only messages appearing are those via BT, but on my old failing laptop I have both BT and V. messages arriving all the time.

As long as your email address is okay at the sign in page, you'll be fine .... touch wood :)

That explanation in that link, looks a lot more complicated than it actually is. Just follow the explanation step by step and you should be fine .... touch wood ;)
