Windows Os Question
I have Windows 8 on my desktop with Windows 7 shell which I wanted because I hate Windows 8. I have IE 10 as browser. I am wondering if I install Win 8.1 will it overwrite the Win 7 shell too? I am having some problems with IE with a certain site which won't open up, it's only this one site (Asda Shopping online) so am wondering if the OS is the problem to that.
My AV is AVG which is also damned well playing up, slow to open, slow to update, it's so annoying. I am very limited with knowledge on computers so a not so techy answer would really be appreciated, hope someone can help me out because it all seems to be going downhill atm. I don't want to lose Win 7 shell and I don't have the installation disk. Thanks for your help.

Just as an additional point: I had Classic shell installed on both my Windows 8 machines, and they both upgraded perfectly to Windows 8.1, and the second one was then upgraded to the Windows 10 pre-release with no problems. In fact, for all its much-vaunted improvements, Windows 10 is still better with Classic Shell installed than it is in its native form.
Hi, thanks for all the replies. Firstly I had this PC built by reputable firm and the chap there put the Windows classic shell ( thought it Win 7 Shell as that's how this performs like Win 7 but thanks TC for putting me right) had it put onto it for me because I didn't like Win 8 so it's a legit installation methyl. I hope I don't have to uninstall etc as I have no confidence in myself for undertaking much techy stuff on my own so would have to go back to blokey for that.
I always clear my history, cookies, cache et al Gromit even during use and always after so I don't think that is a problem and especially as it's only Asda shopping site that won't work properly. I don't know if it works in any other browsers because I haven't downloaded any and wouldn't know where to begin with that unfortunately.
Thanks TC for the info on your having Classic shell and the upgrade going ok to 8.1 that does at least make me feel easier that it could be ok here if I did it. I just wondered if there was some "quick fix" for the Asda site not working and in fact why it wasn't. I know this PC doesn't like this site, as it runs slow most times and locks up et al when I'm on here....think it could be to do with all the ads, though I have pop up blocker set to on all the time.
Thanks for your replies everyone I really appreciate it.

Hi dunnitall. I have found that Firefox & most other popular browsers show problems when I try to use them. Mozilla Seamonkey was suggested to me ages ago & I have found it quite positive. If you would like to try it click on the following to download to your computer.
