Windows 10 Print Problem

I have upgraded windows 8.1 to windows 10 and it seems fine with one exception. It will print a Word document but if I try to print a photo it wants to send it as a fax and then tells me I haven't got a fax modem, which is true, because I don't need or want one. Can any of you wiz kids help out a geriatric?

How are you trying to print the photo? If you're using a decent image viewer (which most definitely excludes the rubbish that Microsoft provides with any version of Windows) you shouldn't have a problem.

Probably the most popular (and certainly the best) image-viewing program is Irfanview:

An alternative way to print photos is to use Microsoft Word anyway. (Simply open a blank document and import the photo into it, using the 'handles' at the corners to adjust its size if necessary).

I'm bringing up the picture then clicking on the print icon. Right click and pint has the same result. I've just tried importing the pic to word and then printing and it's doing the fax thing.

On the print window make sure the printer is selected.

It can often default to a non-printer.

Also in your list of devices make sure the printer is set as the default printing device.

my guess is you need to reinstall your printer - does it show up in devices as online

Sounds about as "good" as Windows 8.

No doubt when enough users raise the issue an "update" will be issued to correct the deficiency.

My printer is listed in devices but I cannot see any reference to default. Also list are Microsoft Print to pdf and Microsoft XPS Document Wrter. Can I remove the last two?

I've just gone into Devices and printers in Control Panel and it's listing a fax which I've never had as default. I've removed it and I think problem solved. |Thank you one and all.

I presume you know that if you right click on your printer in devices and select default hopefully all your prints go there.
