Small Screen Capture

Is there a good free program I can download if I just want to capture a small section of a web page instead of the whole page.

Which version of Windows have you got?

All of the most recent ones include the Snipping Tool. It's under Start > All Programs > Accessories and does exactly what you want anyway.

The snipping tool goes back to at least Windows 7

^^^It's very intuitive. I worked out how to use it without any instructions but, if you'd like a few pointers anyway, here they are:

If you hve a mac, shift command 3 will do the whole screen, shift command 4 and then draw a selection around the area

Capture is stored as a jpg or png on the desktop (you can set your preference for which format.)

Hi,Angela,Hope you sort your problem can I piggy-back your question ? I was going to suggest Snipping Tool in W7. Unfortunately I have W7 'Starter' on my netbook and cannot raise Snipping Tool so it would seem that different versions have different programs, unless some kind soul out there can guide me different

If it is a section of a web page that you are after than might I suggest that you install an add-on for your browser that lets you take a pic of the part/whole of that page not just what the screen is currently displaying. That way if the part of the web page that you want extends below the bottom of the screen then you can scroll the page while taking the shot - something that you can't do if you use a screen capture program that is not part of your browser. I use a variant of Firefox and the add-on I have is Screenshoter.
