My dad wants to connect his laptop to an amp, so he can play music at parties, 'cos it's way too quite when played through the laptop speaker.
On the amp there are 2 input sockets - they are larger than the laptop socket .... I think they're 6.5mm?? One says high and one says low. His guitar connects to this amp by plugging into any one of the 2 sockets. Is it possible to connect the laptop to this amp by getting an adapter (6.5mm to 3.5mm) and simply plug it in, or is there something more complicated to consider, such as possibilities of overloading, etc ??
But they are being connected to an amp not directly to the speakers.
Sorry no idea what the laptop nor the amp specs are. Manual should tell you if they are any good.
The guitar amp is unlikely to have stereo inputs, some do but most dont, so he'll only get a mono output.
Hes not going to get a particularly good souind quality, far from it in all likelihood, lots of harmonic distortion....loud yes, quality no
Thanks for the input, but to be honest, quality isn't really an issue .... I'll be connecting the laptop and playing karaoke tunes (prob via YouTube), whilst the mic will be connected to another amp.
A room full of people, beer and karaoke blasting out ..... I don't think quality will be too much of an issue lol :P
