Hi. On my computer I have malwarebytes free version and also Kaspersky Pure which I pay a yearly subscription for and it is due next month and the price goes up each year. I have had very few problems regarding viruses etc and when I click on to kaspersky it tells me that my computer is protected but I am beginning to wonder if I am just as well protected by any other free websites like for instance AVG or such.Any help would be good. I've never paid for an anti-virus program and my computers have never acquired anything nasty during nearly two decades online.

Avast is always well-reviewed in the technical press and it's very popular with many ABers. It's what I use:

You presently have the same set-up as I do. Free AV works fine for many, although you don't get the support. I went to Kaspersky from a free AV when the free one didn't stop an infection. Whilst it's possible a non-free AV might also have missed it I've felt better for sticking with Kaspersky. That said my woman has continued to use AVG without incident.
if your on windows 10 just use the default security along side malwarebytes you dont need a third party virus prog with 10
Panda Antivirus free is very good so is Super Antispyware free edition
I also use Zone Alarm firewall free never had any problems
Regarding free avg.......i had a problem with it and via their website i got support from a representative....problem solved.
