Windows 10

How can I prevent Microsoft from ensuring I download Windows 10 which I do not want. I understand that Microsoft ignores an attempt to prevent this even as I do not accept the upgrade offer by clicking ignore or by any other method I have tried. This is disgraceful and I think I may try Ubuntu. Advice please - how do I beat Microsoft. I am now told now I upgrading to 10 on Saturday so how do I stop it?

I've had Windows 10 since Christmas with no problems at all. Why don't you want it, it is free? I'm not at all clever with computers either, just a 75 year old granny!

There are many reasons that some people may not want to upgrade: I have a client that uses Windows 7 machines as public status displays. The last thing they need is a change of operating system. Especially to one that is desperately trying to pretend it's a mobile device.
They don't need:
Adverts popping up to tell them to upgrade to the latest version of Office
Weather reports
News Feeds
Updates that appear at inconvenient times

Can i just clarify .

I have a laptop which is over 5 years old .

Would it cope with this new operating system - i.e does it need a minimum level of operating performance ?

A chap at work updated his and he says the battery performance nose dived afterwards

Bazile, I upgraded my 6 year old under powered netbook without problems. Gave it a new lease of life.

The bounders installed w10 last week as I looked out of my window to watch a yummy mummy walk past. A friend told me how to remove it and have been back on w7 and google for 20 minutes now, what a relief.

Thanks for all the information; I still do not want Windows 10 and I object to the Microsoft sneaky accountancy. I have now installed a download program which works and I think I will look at Ubuntu anyhow. Many thanks

Why not upgrade to Windows 10 you will have to eventually anyhow . I am running Windows 10 on all of my computers without any problems . It's free until July or it will cost you money to get it .
