Why Does The Answer Bank Keep Freezing?
19 Answers
PLEASE can anyone tell me what I can do to prevent The Answer Bank from 'freezing' while I am looking for answers in the CROSSWORD section? I keep getting the message THE ANSWER BANK IS NOT RESPONDING.
It is extremely frustrating!
Many thanks in advance!

Which version of The Answerbank? (The 'normal' one or the mobile version?)
Which browser? (Internet Explorer? Edge? Firefox? Chrome? Safari? Opera? Something else?)
Have you got that-which-shall-not-be-named-here installed? ('cos it's usually the ads which cause the problems). See here:

IE was always poor with AB so I switched to Chrome. For a while it was excellent but things have deteriorated.
With chrome now there are times when it's great but other times when it just seems to freeze and won't let me type anything else or go back to edit typos. Sometimes I can get round it by clicking repeatedly on Submit and it eventually posts the unfinished post, but I usually just close the tab/window, go back into AB via another tab and start again.
When it's like this, at the bottom left corner of my screen there are lots of messages in tiny grey script saying 'waiting for...' and something about scripts. At other times I just get a message saying AB isn't responding.
The solution involving blocking ads is sometimes suggested but I'm not sure it's the answer. I tried it a while ago and it was fine but I think sites like AnswerBank are now starting to fight back against adblockers- some ads slip through for a few seconds and some of the messages at the bottom suggest scripts in AnswerBank are having a running battle with the adblocker. So, sometimes, I find it quicker to remove the adblocker and just sit and wait while ads loaded.
