Copying Ipod Content To New Laptop
6 Answers
I've read a few similar questions already but my old laptop has died I used for iTunes.
My iTunes library is made up of about 50% purchased songs and 50% songs I've uploaded from CDs.
When I log into iTunes account from my iPad I can see my purchased songs only. My songs I uploaded from CDs can't be seen...
So if I plug my iPod into new laptop can I copy back complete iTunes library from iPod to laptop? Or is the music I had the in my library lost on old laptop?

If you have to manually reload them to your new laptop it is a good idea to have a copy backed up. You can move them from one computer to another using the method shown in the link. I had the same problem when my desktop died and once bitten etc. The bonus was that I had my laptop loaded up and just transferred them. Another point Casingcars, you can only have your iTunes library shared on 5 devices overall, so your dead lappie counts as one, your new lappie and ipad make 3.

Just a thought Chasing did you have your tunes in the dead lappie saved in the apple cloud? You could try calling the apple help line and checking if they can help when you have a new lappie set up. I have found them to be quite helpful in the past with queries and questions. You may not get all your library on the ipad (depends on size of library and capacity of the ipad.)
thanks all, most helpful. Old laptop is dead for sure no hope there! but yes i have my purchased songs still on my itunes account which is good s these appear on new laptop.
When i plugged my ipod in to new laptop i was asked if i wanted to sync ipod contents into itunes, and it started doing this ok. Halfway through there was an error message on one track and then it stopped syncing..no i cant find how to start it off again. the only sync option is for itunes back to ipod but that would only give me my purchased tracks ad i want to sync the other way round.
I dont think these were backup on the cloud but i will contact Apple helpful in the past i 'lot' some tracks!

I spoke with iTunes support, but they confirmed that there is not the function to copy back tracks from iPad to iTunes if they were previously uploaded from CDs...due to copyright.
Anyway long and short of it, I have found an app called Wondershare and within matter of minutes my entire iPod contents are back in my library. There is a cost of £38 approx for the app but if anyone else is having problems this is great app and works with iPhone, iPad, iOS and android.
