Playing Dvds In Windows 10

I changed to W10 some time ago, I have played lots of audio CDs but I am now trying to play a DVD movie and nothing happens. Looking around on the net it appears that I'm supposed to buy a Windows Media Player app, because I have missed the free installation date last Summer.

I can watch them on my smart TV, but Is there any other way I can watch DVDs on my PC please.

Not only that but I have yet to find a video format that VLC can't play!

With respect you might like to a look at Divx it plays almost any format in high quality
