Hp Envy Printer Problem

Usually trouble free. It grumbled a little when I put in a non HP black cartridge but it prints my black ink docs OK.
But when I made a selection of text in an XL doc - which had one line only in red, it refused to print any of the black lines simply ejecting blank pages but it did print the one red line.
I tried a blank doc - all OK and then changed all XL text to red - OK.
