Uninstalling Avg Paid For Version
7 Answers
Hi, I have AVG Internet Security (paid for) installed on my PC (Win 8.1 IE version 11) and want to uninstall this and replace with my Norton's subscription that I have on my laptop (covers up to 5 devices) which I've just renewed.
Is this a complicated procedure - me not really being techno savvy? Can someone explain in laymen terms the way to go about it please in the order it needs doing? I need to hedge my bets in case just uninstalling AVG doesn't work properly first time. Many thanks for any help you may be able to give.

Download the Nortons setup files first, but do not install it. Turn off AVG program either from the 'taskbar' or 'Task manager'. Uninstall AVG using the removal tool mentioned above. Restart the pc and install Nortons. Allow Norton to perform an update and be prepared for a full system scam by Nortons.

I've never had the paid version of AVG but I'd imagine your first step would be to temporarily disable the program. This is usually fairly simple but you'd need to search how to do it on the internet as there may be different methods for different versions. Take note of your version first.
After that, just sign in to your Norton Account and download Norton. This is easy and straightforward. When you're happy with Norton, you can uninstall AVG if you wish or alternatively, just leave it disabled. Whatever you do, don't run the two together as there should be only one antivirus on your computer.

Just to say thank you very much to all for helping me out. Unfortunately I had a problem with getting things done but thank goodness they helped out at Norton's and did it all for me...phew. Now the PC is zipping along much quicker than it has ever done. Seems like AVG was "disk hungry" since it's gone and performance is atm good. Thanks everyone.
