But this is the behaviour of those in power who can see nothing immoral when they are the ones doing the abusing.
All of this does NOT apply to modern diesels that comply with the Euro7 regulations. Such engines are the only ones that can be sold now and they all have particulate filters and catalytic converters. They emit less particulates and NoX than petrol engines.

I am about to change my Fiesta for a new one. I have driven my present one, a 1.5 tdi, for over 40,000 miles and the fuel consumption is remarkable. I don't have to try very hard to get 58 mpg and if I do try harder, I can easily get the late 60's mpg.
Added to that, its more than fast enough for me, and it has tremendous torque.

I had never even driven a diesel until we got a 1.7 eco diesel Zafira on my wife's motability . Now I am a convert ,will never willingly go back to petrol. Over 40mpg around town and over 70 mpg on a long run That's from a 7 seater !
So quite you can hardly hear the engine from inside the car, never failed to start 1st turn of the key even when it was below freezing!
