I hope no one minds me posting this here, but it’s a truly horrendous story and a dreadful situation for this family to be in. If you can help please do – and if you have a Facebook account or can think of any other way of sharing the story, please share.

Thanks.

Sorry Naomi, can you vouch for the authenticity of the story before I share?
Question Author
Yes. Absolutely.
Thanks.
Question Author
Baldric, I can offer my personal assurance that it is genuine. Absolutely genuine. Those two little children are, as I understand it, currently in an orphanage in China. I can't bear to think of how frightened they must be.
Seems a worthy cause; but I'm a little puzzled. If they are to return to the UK doesn't that imply that they are UK citizens, and if so shouldn't the UK authorities be sorting the situation out as best they can ?
Question Author
OG, The children, I believe, were born in China, so presumably hold Chinese nationality.
I'm confused, too. Who is Ian and as Rachel survived the children aren't orphans, unless the children's mother is the attacker.
Ah I see, then "return" implied more than it should have.

hc, from Naomi's link
Michael and Rachel were brutally attacked by Michael's ex-wife of over 2 years Weiwei Fu.
Question Author
Ian is the grandfather. He wants to get his son's children back to England to be raised by their English family.

Rachel is not the children's mother, but the girlfriend of the children’s father Michael, who was murdered by his ex-wife, the mother of his children.

Sorry, don't know why this bit didn't post
The children in the picture, (Jack(6) and Alice(5)) are the children of Michael Simpson, (also pictured). They are also the grandchildren of my neighbour, Ian.
Yes, thank you, I did read that. It doesn't state that she is the children's mother, though
Thanks, naomi. So the children aren't orphans or British?
Correct. So it is an act of compassion to allow them it emigrate here to avoid them being with the mother's family.

Nail on head there HC, that's why I won't be giving.
Question Author
hc4361, I've been asked to share this and, happy to do that, I've given the details. I have no intention of entering into any sort of conflict here over this. It's upsetting enough. if you don't want to help, that's fine.
His company said: Mr Simpson had lived in China for a number of years and held one of the top jobs within the Next Group.

A spokesman for the group said: "Michael Simpson was a much liked and long-standing NEXT colleague who was working in China when he died. We cannot comment further, other than to say our thoughts are very much with his family and friends at this sad time."

I would have thought the company, would had him insured for injury or death, and would look after his family with all they need.
Question Author
trt, I expect they did, but that doesn’t solve the problem the grandfather here in England is trying to deal with. I’m beginning to wish I hadn’t bothered to post this here.
They aren't orphans......they may not be British but they are in a dangerous situation......they should stay with that mother?
They seem to have had a lovely dad and his family are doing their very best to rescue and care for them.....

I think we're now in a fortunate situation that Just Giving and Crowdfunding can enable us to help, even in a small way, folk we would never have heard of before....

Sounds like I'm trying to make you donate....I'm not...I just find those reasons a little bit sad.....x
