Although I am over £200 in credit with my utilities provider they want to up my monthly bill for dual fuel by another £30. In midsummer! It impossible to get hold of them on the phone, they just dont pick up, a recording says Sorry to keep you holding on, we are busy etc. If I change providers will I lose this credit or can I claim it back? They dont reply to emails either.

If you change supplier they have to give it back to you.

Thanks bhg, would it be automatic or how would I apply for it?
Sorry, I don't know because I've never done it; I've read somewhere (moneysavingexpert.com ?) that they have to return it to you.
If you go on the USwitch site, they will tell you how much you can save by switching suppliers and will do it all for you. You will get your credit back.
I received a fast credit from my provided though I wasn't switching.

In the past, when I have left one provider, it took about 6 weeks! Yet they were always quick to demand any monies due.

Rather typical really.

Thanks all, I read on Which that the green energy suppliers have the best customer service but I was thinking of going with Sainsburys Energy. Who would you recommend?
British Gas review each year and any credit is put back into your bank.
