I had an ad blocker which zapped practically everything. I've installed the another one but many ads still appear. What do I need?

Ad blockers work with browsers, rather than with operating systems.

So which browser, and which ad blocker, are you trying to use together?

Firefox, and the blocker was from the Daily Mail - which probably says it all. I'm unsure where to go to find its name.

PS. Ads now appear on Answerbank- but they never used to.

I've had the occasional ad on AB recently, on Firefox. For some reason I never used to, but I haven't changed anything.

Same here... that was what my comment on nailit's thread was about. I think there has been an attempt to bypass them. Added a different one and all ok now.

In Firefox, click the 'hamburger' (three lines, top right).

Click 'Add-ons'.

If it's not already selected, click 'Extensions'.

Check that your adblocker is shown there and that it's not shown as 'Disabled'. (If it is then, obviously, click to enable it).

If the adblocker is shown as enabled but it's not working, click to remove it. Then install this one:

I guess that you're using Adblock Plus. It's actually funded by advertisers, who pay to have their ads 'whitelisted', so it's inevitable that some will get through.

ublock origin is better than adblock plus. Less resource hungry and not paid to 'whitelist' certain websites.

TTG. TKS for the suggestion. Dunno how, but I have both AdBlock Plus and AdBlock Ultimate installed. Not sure how to uninstall them. Where are they? And I'd appreciate help in installing your preferred one.

PS. RT click on mouse only invites Remove from Toolbar.

To uninstall AB+ and ABU from firefox I think you probably need to follow similar steps to those needed in the case of Chrome. Click on the 3 dots top right (or may be a hamburger), select More tools (or may just be Tools for you) then Extensions. That should list all the extensions and there should be boxes ticked or unticked depending on whether each extension is enabled or not. Just click on any tick in the AB+ or ABU boxes to disable them

Or in chrome I can right click on the ABP icon in the top tool bar and select Revoe from Chrome. I think you may be saying though that on Firefox that only removes from the toolbar
