Opening Text On A Sent Dvd
I need to send some texts and pictures on a DVD to a printing firm in London. The texts are written in Libre Office , does it matter in what programme it is written will it be openable on another computer? First time I have ever done this so I'm unsure how this all works. Thanks,

If they are printing as is, then save the file as a pdf.
If they are laying it out for you then send the text as Word format or Rich Text Format (RTF) as that avoids any problems with incompatibility between file formats.
For the pictures, send them as the original files - the higher quality the better. Don't embed them in a Word document.
If you've taken your images from the internet then the quality may look ok on screen, but not when printed. Also remember always assume that images on the internet are copyright. There are sites where you can obtain high quality royalty free (ie. free to use, no copyright)

Tuvok; I'm sending them a pasted mock-up of what it should look like and DVD of all the pictures and texts. All of it is my copyright and the images are photographs of my own work and the whole thing is over 100 megabytes - nothing from the internet.
So they will have to adjust and lay out each of about 60 pages (it's a catalogue) to fit my design of pictures and texts.

Send them your mockup as a pdf - that avoids anything moving when opening the file on a different computer.
Give them the text as Word/RTF (there should be an option when you "save as" to change the format) and give them the original photos - unless you are good with Photoshop and can tweak and crop the images.
If you want them to use a specific font, send the font files as well - assuming they are copyright free.
The printers will use (probably) Adobe InDesign - an industry standard desktop publishing program.
As for the size - for me and printers thats small - I recently produced 18 files each over 1gb!
