Fall Creators Update & Ms Outlook 2003
4 Answers
At the risk of posting a thread too soon:
Just had the "Fall Creators Update" install. As usual it needed a further restart to find and use the other monitor. That aside.
Anyone know if this is likely to be the cause of MS Outlook 2003 suddenly suddenly failing ? It was working find before the update, Now I hit the 'send/receive' and it immediately comes back with "The operation failed". Which is a fat lot of use.
And I have just noticed, prior to posting, that if I go to the menu and try tools/e-mail accounts it immediately comes back with "The operation failed due to a registry or installation problem. Restart Outlook and try again. If the problem persists, please reinstall."
I reckon MS has just screwed it up.

Problem is that don't MS now nag you every time if you don't have a particular update ? If one doesn't want to miss the security patches aren't we stuck with the mess they make ?
I'm off out soon, an uninstall may need to wait until after the weekend.

Out of interest it seems it was connected to add-ins.
I was advised to uninstall Microsoft Office File Validation Add-In, and after doing so I started getting a different error message regarding Kaspersky outlook anti-spam addin. I disabled that one and all started working.
Have no idea why it all changed during the Fall Creators Update. Did it change something that mucked up the add-ins ? Or was it pure coincidence ? Either way, all is now working.
