Recovering Apple Avvount On Ipad

I need to recover my Apple account. Apple sent me a verification code to my phone and say they will phone or text me on a certain date at a certain time with instructions. I have had 2 dates and times so far but nothing happens. I know you can recover it on the screen of the iPad, but when I go into that, it comes up as my other Apple account. Obviously I don’t want to recover that one as I already have it. This has all happened when my daughter came from the states and set it up so I can share her music etc. She had to create a new account but we still need to recover the old one for certain apps and updates. Any advice would be appreciated thanks.

have you signed out of your other account in ipad settings and attempted to sign in with the account that you want to recover?
