How To Get Back To Windows 10

I had problems with chrome so had to restart my computer and when the computer came on again,hit the F4 button where it checks your files and then tells you to restart your computer again which I did,the only problem is it has taken me back to Windows 7,and not Windows 10 which I was on originally.

I have had a search on the web and it seems F4 on SOME computers (like Samsung, maybe others) does a reinstall of Windows from the hidden "restore" partition.

My guess is that is what it has done, it has reinstalled Windows 7 on top of Windows 10 because you pressed F4.

I think your only option is to download Windows 10 again and reinstall it as I said on the previous question Buenchico referenced.

If you do reinstall Windows 10 maybe you can take the opportunity to delete the Windows 7 restore partition during the install. You could delete ALL the partitions and install Windows 10 to a "blank" hard disk.

We have one laptop with Windows 10 and another with Windows 7 - if I thought I could get the W10 one to revert to W7 at the touch of F4 I'd do it straightaway. Is this actually possible?

Users who switched from Windows 7 to Windows 10 had a 30-day period to revert to the older operating system if they so chose. Thereafter the Windows 7 files were deleted.

The only exception would be if, as in Doddsredoubt's case, you've got a computer that has a separate partition on its hard drive (which would show up as Drive Q or similar when you opened 'Computer') where a back-up version of Windows 7 was stored. Files on that partition would have been left untouched by the (so-called) 'upgrade' from Windows 7 to Windows 10, meaning that the back-up could be invoked (as Doddsredoubt has now managed to do accidentally twice!)

Ohh my word been looking in and alternately weeping with laughter or frustration. Guilbert , take a bow for patience and clarity. Buen take one for doggedness. Diddlydo do you not wonder why dodds was so desperate to get back to the superb W10? I am currently running(on the desktop) an as yet unreleased W10 system( part of an insider programme) and a Beta version of the Edge browser. Ver Ver good. My son was round earlier and he is switched on in such matters. His verdict was wow after he tried it for himself.

Sort your machine out diddlydo. W10 is the system for the future and your security. The Austin 7 cannot cope with the traffic on our roads anymore.
