Ridiculous Itunes Problem

Well, I think it's ridiculous!

iTunes 12.8. Had a track on my desktop I wanted to incorporate into iTunes. Went to File / Add to library / desktop. Located track, clicked Open.

Ended up in the wrong place... (i.e. in another unrelated album).

Is there any way I can click and drag it out of there, or do I have to delete it, and start all over again. (Alright, it's only going to take 2 minutes, but I get fed up with iTunes not letting you do things you'd have thought should be simple).

I wouldn't touch iTunes with an infinite number of the proverbial bargepoles but I'm wondering whether it supports the standard Windows RIGHT-clicking options?

i.e. if you right-click are you offered 'Cut' and then, by doing so again in the destination folder, 'Paste'?
"but I get fed up with iTunes not letting you do things you'd have thought should be simple" - which is why I wont touch Apple with a barge pole. Over complicates everything.
whoops I did not read chico before I posted but, snap!

If iTunes has put it in the wrong place it is possibly/probably because the tags on the track are wrong, it uses the artist/album information embedded in the track to decide where to import it to.

Nah, Mac gets touchy about left/right clicks (option click sometimes does the same job, but no joy in this case).

Fitzer: thanks, I'll have a look...

It would be nice if Answerbank allowed a system where you could choose which answerers could answer your questions.

It might save a lot of hot air and wasted space (or indeed wastes of space).

Well done, I just knew you wouldn't let me down ;o)
why don't you start your own site? You can then administer it as you see fit. May get a bit lonely but at least you'll only have people that'll agree with you so you wont have to start calling people names because you have no actual debating ability.
Bill, if you don’t have right click enabled on the Mac you’re rather hampering yourself, but whatever works for you. Option click the track and the ‘get info’ and you’ll be able to edit the tags. If you’re really bothered about the physical location of the file you should then delete the track from the library, WITHOUT sending it to trash and then import again and it should be in the correct place. ITunes doesn’t care where things are on the disk so you might as well just leave it where it put it to start with.

I have left and right clicks as simple clicks. Option-click does the same as Mucrosoft’s right-click, when I need it.

Itunes has put the errant track into the middle of soneone else’s album, hence the fuss.

There's more than one sad character on the thread - is there any topic on which folk won't squabble?
mamya - no, there be fights everywhere
So I see and they are trailed from thread to thread like a comfort blanket - it is sad.

wolf: I don’t want to fight anyone, at least not on non-controversial threads about technology.

I’m no Christian, though, and find it very hard to turn the other cheek when challenged!
I've probably got an ancient version of iTunes, but I can click and drag songs where I want them.
