Apparently it is possible to copy DVD's. Why then is it not possible to copy PS2 games? Both are DVD platform. If you can, how is this possible?

its probably possible with an iso image program of some sort.

Question Author

why would the PS2 not recognize it, when A DVD player will recognize a copied DVD?

Part of the copy protection system on the PS2 looks for a deliberately corrupted portion of the disc if the PS2 cant find the corruption then it wont play the game. It is impossible to duplicate this corruption yourself, therefore copying games is not possible (unless you get the PS2 chipped so it doesnt look for the corruption).

Interesting. Have you tried it? Is this how you know?

Anyone used this programme??

Sounds good, or at least it did until this bit

"As with any copied game a mod chip is needed if you wish to play backup games on your console."

Ah never mind, but I'm surprised no-one has come up with a way round this yet.

heres a link to a blog about a program that can do it without buying any expensive hardware.
