Windows Media Player
I am running Windows 10, Windows Media Player plays my CDs but will not allow me to make a Playlist. How do I find out if I have the correct Media Player Version

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.Windows Media Player hasn't been updated since version 12 was brought out in 2009, so any version of Windows from Windows 7 onwards will come with WMP 12.
However WMP is, and always has been, a totally pathetic media player. The best all-round media player, by a country mile, is VLC:

(It's not just me who holds that opinion. The technical press, together with the technology columnists in national newspapers and countless BBC technology programmes have been consistently recommending VLC for well over a decade, as have many AB members).
However if you only want to play audio files, rather than video ones as well, you might want to consider an alternative program. For many years the mighty Winamp was king but it seemed to die a death several years ago. However there's recently been a new version brought out, so it might be worth a look:

Things have moved on a bit while Winamp has been out of circulation though, with MusicBee probably now being the most popular player for audio files:
