I've got myself a new (refurbished !) laptop, which uses Windows 7 like my previous laptop.
Unfortunately, several of my applications that I used on my old one won't load on my new one, mainly because the message I am getting is that they aren't compatible with a 64 bit PC.
Is there anyway around it, or will I lose my dearly loved software forever ?
One should find the windows 64 bit operating system can run 32 bit applications. Don't recall off the top of my head if it's necessary to do anything; but maybe worth right clicking on the icon and see if you can find compatibility settings.
Hmmm I have forgotten so much about the older 7 operating system but am sure that there is such a thing as xp mode that can be downloaded to help with 32 bit software.
After typing this up I searched and found this. May be worth a read through TC.
Sorry all, I don't understand what you are on about.
e.g. , I went to one of the programs I want to install. Right click, there was something about compatability mode. A box came up, and I tried following the instructions. Still didn't install, telling me to get in touch with Microsoft.
Isn't there a very simple solution to solve all this ? I can't even use QBasic, because it says I am using 64 bit rather than 32.
