Can anyone recommend an easy to use (and hopefully free) photo editing software, please. Ideally personal recommendation and aimed at a user level of "total idiot".

Ive got quite a few photos that I need to tidy up and print and I really dont get on with the photo editor with Windows 10.

Gimp is a class program, but not very intuitive IMHO.
I'd try Irfanview.

With regard to the suggestions above, Gimp is a superb photo editor but I certainly wouldn't class it being at 'total idiot' level. It's akin to the full (professional) versions of Photoshop and has just a steep learning curve. (You really need a year or two of evening classes, dedicated solely to its use, to get the best from it).

Irfanview is a fantastic photo viewing program, which is one of the first things that I always install onto a new computer (including those that I'm setting up for other people). However if you 'look under the bonnet' there are some useful (and easy to use) editing tools thrown in too, so it might well meet you needs. (Indeed, it's what I use myself when I've only got some basic editing tasks to complete).

Paint.net has been around since Fred Flintstone was editing his pictures of dinosaurs but it's still got plenty of fans here on AB:

Ashampoo is a company that's known for the high quality of the stuff that it gives away. In particular, Ashampoo Burning Studio Free is the best free disc burning software by miles. They've recently made their photo editing software free too - it used to cost $29.99 - and it gets excellent reviews in the technical press:

of all the programs mentioned, there are youtube vids on how to..

Thanks all. I tried Gimp before but found it too complicated. Ashampoo doesnt have all the functions I need - although it's fine for the bog standard tidying. I'm playing with it now.
