Re 1, I'm aware of a place in Northern Ireland with that name but the one is SW (England?) is called The... isn't it

yes they are places. DOS in SW does not come up with a place name on my anagram solver.

I assume the "Either the letters DOS appear in a block" refers to the use of DOS in the clue since in the answer the D O and S are spread around. If not then my answer is again wrong
I thing this quiz probably makes more sense when you have a full copy rather than relying on some of the partial descriptions given in some posts
