I think it's used for astronauts when they go on long haul trips... Seen as some people aren't following the advice from the WHO, regarding social distince, could a hibernation pill be given to people?

There are drugs that can be used to medically induce a coma but the patient needs to be kept in intensive care throughout the period. That requires the use a ventilator (which aren't exactly in great supply at the moment), a lot more expensive technology and a large team of support staff:
