Can I Send A Text From My Laptop

My old mate's laptop has broken and he won't have one for a few weeks. I want to send him a "lockdown newsletter", far too long to type on a screen not much bigger than a postage stamp. He has a "dumb" (i.e. non-Smart) mobile on the O2 network. Can I send him a text from my laptop? I've read a bit about SMS Gateways but it seems to refer to arrangements in the US.

I would do it a simple way. Compose text on laptop, mail it to myself, open email on my phone and copy and paste in to SMS

perhaps NJ also has a non-smart phone. Anyway, yes you can - I have done before but some years ago. Just google "send a text from the internet" and find someone who does it. I'm not sure what info you'll need to give them

If you have Windows 10, you can just link your laptop to your phone and sends SMS messages direct from your computer. Click the start button, type "Your phone" into the search box.

If you press and hold on the text you should get a 'cut' option pop up.
The in the text message area press and hold and the 'paste' option should appear.

I've found the "Your Phone" app on my laptop. I now need a "Phone Companion" App on my phone. I'll have to look for that. I'll let you know how I get on.
