If you find yourself forced to buy a new webcam though, I'd advise avoiding anything branded by Microsoft. That's not particularly because of poor product quality. (Microsoft-branded mice and keyboards can, for example, be remarkably good value for your money). It's simply because trying to get any type of meaningful support from Microsoft is a nigh-impossible task. So the Logitech C270 might be a better buy:
