Kindle Fire Storage Card

I am bewildered! My storage was running low on my Kindle fire, so I bought a storage card and enabled it to take on books, audio books, films etc...My internal storage is now down to zero and there I was, assuming that from now on, books, audio, music etc. Would now go on to the card. But NO!!! If I try to download anything now, no internal storage, I get a warning that I can't do it as I have no storage left!

To me, it's like my house is totally full of stuff, so I build an extension. I then think fairly reasonably that I'll be able to move a lot of stuff into the extension so that there's more room in the house but instead, I have a near empty room next to my house and there's nothing I can do to fill it...What am I missing here? A storage that has massive of space but nothing can go on it???
Save my sanity, please!

Buenchico, yes. I have done that. The card has taken on a few books, some audio books and three out of six apps, taking up 2 and a bit megabites. Then there's a massive amount of free space.
You need to tell the individual apps to use the SD card.
Kindle: tap more/app settings. Select "Download to SD card". You will be asked if you also wish to move your existing library there.
Audible: tap the doughnut/settings/download. Select "Download to SD card".

TheChair: Thanks for your reply but I still can't get anywhere. Under 'storage' I have'move apps to storage card' and then get 'no apps available'. I have 835 MB of apps and games on the card but 8.19 GB on the internal storage. I can't find a way to tell individual apps to download to SD card:

The options I get for each downloaded app is 'Delete from device', 'delete from cloud' or 'share'.

I have lots of apps in the cloud that I can't use as there's no internal storage left and they won't download to the card, despite all that space. I just cannot see what the point of the card is. A storage card that can't store anything. ????

Could you possibly transfer your books, music, films to the storage card via your pc/laptop?

What model Fire do you have?

Barry1010: I have a kindle Fire HD8

I went on to my PC and I can only send audio books and books to my devices. There are no options to send to the SD card.

Have you tried taking the SD card out of your Fire and connecting it to the PC?

I'll have to give up on this one. I have tried all suggestions and nothing works. Maybe the card isn't compatible. It might be something as simple as that. Maybe it's just faulty. I don't know anything about technology except how frustrating and incomprehensible it is. Thank you for everyone who tried to help!
