what use is a house number without a road or postcode though?
regarding the shop, they are within their rights to ask you, as you are within your rights to refuse. They are then within their rights to refuse service

Sorry to see that you're prepared to help with the spread of the virus by not giving your name. Let's hope not everybody is so selfish.

bhg481 heres another who does not read my question properly I GAVE HIM MY NAME that is all is required plus a mobile or house phone number not your address
they are specifically told NOT to collect addresses or postcodes.

"The following information should be collected by the venue, where possible:

staff
the names of staff who work at the premises
a contact phone number for each member of staff
the dates and times that staff are at work
customers and visitors
the name of the customer or visitor. If there is more than one person, then you can record the name of the ‘lead member’ of the group and the number of people in the group
a contact phone number for each customer or visitor, or for the lead member of a group of people
date of visit, arrival time and, where possible, departure time
if a customer will interact with only one member of staff (e.g. a hairdresser), the name of the assigned staff member should be recorded alongside the name of the customer
No additional data should be collected for this purpose."

I will give my full contact details if the information is not on public display.
When they have a book which anyone can view, I don’t use it.
Jeez, someone got out of bed on the wrong side.
Another example of insufficient training I'm afraid.
i regard it as sufficiently important to the Public Health to do so.

but what if they failed to tell any one they were in an infected space AND sold it on to commercial companies?

oh you mean like the FLOs ( family liaison officers ) collected information on the names and addresses of mourners of Stephen Lawrence and used it only to inform MI6 - so they cd monitor the response to Stephens murder and defuse and diffuse it if need be.
// bednobs for heavens sake he wanted my full address !//

oh I was gonna say - O I know a nice place you cd both go to ....
but you may not find that funny

or Oscar wilde - good for a wild time - oh I cdnt give him my full address he was far too ugly ( slip the divine Oscar made at his trial - er fatal slip as it turned out)

or - for chrissakes Derek what was you last job?

or one time I said to a waiter - Newton Heath and he said oh I was born in Newton Heath and I said - "o god bad luck" - it isnt an area people sort of want to go
