Ipod.

I was an early adopter of the IPod, and until 5 years ago still had my original iPod classic until it gave up the ghost, so went with a Nano, which is starting to get temperamental and I fear won’t last much longer.
As Apple no longer make the iPod, my question is will non Apple MP3 players be able to download from iTunes?
I have thousands of songs on iTunes, bought over the years since iTunes first came about, costing thousands of pounds, so the thought of not being able download them would be a pain.
I don’t have an iPhone.
