Can't Turn Off Computer

I've just booted up a second computer which I haven't used for a few weeks looking for something & now when I try to close it down by rt clicking on the windows symbol bottom left from which I need the 'shut down' sign - nothing happens! also the task bar is blank
How can I switch the thing off please?

Hold down the power button ?

Just press the power button - keep your finger on it until the power-down starts.

The computer was likely doing an upgrade. It will try again when you boot it up again. Always check before forcing a stop.
