Considering what's been going on over the past year, the billions spent supporting the economy and the number of unemployed going through the roof when furlough ends, I think it is. The public sector as usual has been protected from harsh economic reality so none of them can hardly complain. Also there's the usual gushing and worship of the NHS which is used by vested interests to cloud the issue with emotion.

I agree with you. Plenty of people currently on 80% of their pay, plenty jobless.

Disappointing but its above inflation which is0.5 and some in public sector are frozen and off course in private sector a million or more have lost there jobs so have got a huge payout.

It's a lot more than most people will be getting. My next door neighbour is a psychiatric nurse and isn't complaining.

I suspect they've earned a few bob in overtime in the last year, so their "extra efforts" haven't been completely unrewarded.

I think bobbinwales believes that those in the private sector that have been made redundant have walked off with a golden handshake, a gold watch and a huge redundancy package.

Just got notification of my tax code for 2021/2022 which 743l as opposed to 477l last year.This means I will be paying tax on £400 more than last year, so virtually a pay cut.

I find it ironic that these NHS 'Angels' who apparently do thier job for the satisfaction they get, are thinking of jumping ship and leaving, as their pay-rise is not enough. OK.......

When the NHS was first formed nurses were very poorly paid but that is no longer the case. Their job is completely different with much more clinical responsibility.

It's more than a lot of people will be getting, and at least they have a job. A reasonably paid job which is also more than a lot of people.

I think our pay has been frozen for 21/22 and PRP no longer applies. Vouchers are now issued for reward & recognition.

If the pay rise really was above expected inflation rate, i would agree it was enough. But i've read in a few places that RPI is expected to rise to anywhere between 1.5% and 2.6%.
