Which one are you trying to copy? Click on it in the box (So it enlarges), click select so it appears in the box beside the text Characters to copy:, highlight it and then click on Copy, go to wherever you want to pase it and use Ctrl+V

Which app are you using ? It says ‘copied’ but when I go to paste ...it won’t

I use Alt codes mostly and some C&P for birthday messages etc.

I don't use unicode, let's try.
