Supplying Power To Android Tablet

Bit of background: damaged my tablet screen a couple of nights ago and now nothing shows on it; leading to at least 2 problems, mainly because I realise I've stuff on the tablet not replicated elsewhere.

Very unkeen to be looking for a repair store as I had a similar issue with the previous tablet a few years back, and no one wanted to go around removing screens (still have that one unrepaired in a box somewhere). So needing to access the tablet contents as a first step.

a) Trying to use the PC to copy directories/folders from the tablet to a flash drive. Problem is that data cable between the PC and tablet seems incapable of keeping the tablet charged, and after a while it closes down and the copying stops. Anyone know how to keep it powered while copying ?

b) The other issue is a desire to connect the tablet to a monitor or TV in the hope of seeing on it, what no longer shows on the tablet screen. I've tried all sorts of combinations with leads/adapters I already had, but never was anything shown on the TV. I then went out and bought a lead from a local shop which was supposed to be explicitly for the job. Got back, found one had to download software ! Obviously that's a catch 22 situation for the tablet as I need to use the screen to download & set-up in order to see what's on the screen. Tried it with my mobile anyway, the set-up sequence shown on the leaflet differed from what actually occurred, no setting up of any screen capture; the result being nothing was ever seen on the TV. (Much though I dislike taking things back for a refund, I did this time.) Has anyone got any solutions regarding getting a tablet with non-working screen to appear on an external monitor/TV ?

I'm basically no further forward after a lot of fussing about. A bit of a downer actually, especially as over the years I've become reliant on a tablet that's now hiding stuff from me.

Perhaps try another data cable if that one keeps failing.

if the tablet is new enough you could try a USB-C HDMI adaptor to connect to a screen - though that may be one of the many ways you have already tried ...

Thanks for the response, much appreciated, but various cables have failed, and the adapter cable I've just received a refund for was supposed to go from USB C to HDMI. But it needed software downloaded, and even after installation it failed to show anything.

Can't you fully charge the tab first before you try and transfer the data on the data cable?

Hi. Thanks but te tablet was always fully charged (as far as one could tell) before trying to copy the data.

However that particular issue *may* have been solved. I decided to reformat the flash drive and start again; and discovered that despite it's large size the default format was FAT, so the reformat was set to NTFS. A following attempt to copy seemed to work ok, maybe, but I'm a bit suspicious as it went fairly fast and I'm wondering if it really transferred everything from the tablet.

I downloaded & installed a free compare programme to check but it failed to even see the tablet directories anyway, so was a fat lot of use.

The seeing the screen on an external monitor/TV requirement is still unsolved though. And a consequential issue found was that any alarms set will continue to go off, and there's no stopping them because one can't see or operate the button on a non-working screen. It auto snoozes and goes off again too.

I have just checked the copy sizes. It was meant to be copying over, over 59 Gb, but it only managed to copy 4.7 Gb. So I have little expectation that it's copied enough to replicate the broken tablem on a different tablet. Nightmare.
