How To Write “Interest To Purchase”Letter.

Hi all.
It is my first time on this forum, So I’m still learning my way around here and my apologies for any mistakes I might make.

I have started my own company and I’m trying to write a letter to companies asking to purchase their old goods. Therefore I’m asking for some assistance for correction the letter below and right words. Any assistance would be
much appreciated:

RE: Interest in buying used commercial vehicles.

Dear Manager,

My name is xxxxx . I am a founder of xxxxx Commercial and I’m based in London. I have many excellent potential buyers in Africa who looks to buy used commercial vehicles mainly xxx
I would like to receive information in regards of your company used commercial vehicles which you are no longer wants to use them. But, in africa they are still valuable due to available of many affordable mechanics.

I would appreciate any information such as where do you sell them or any auction dates I can attend.
My apologies if I’m contact the wrong department and I would appreciate if you could point me to the right person.
Any information would be appreciated and thank you for your time. I’m looking forward to hear from you.

sorry, but your letter is not good; it sounds like a scam letter, probably due to the fact you mention Africa and use the same sort of language that nigerian princes who want to give me their millions if i could just give them my bank details do!
if i received this letter i would bin it (or if an email, mark as spam)
I would suggest the sellers don't need to know where the goods they sell are going to end up, nor how many great mechanics there are in Africa.

@bednobs,Majority of used commercial vehicle dealers who are buying from the big logistics company such as Eddie Stopper, UPS etc are selling them to Africa. Therefore, it is well known. I just mentioned in case someone doesn’t know and he is wondering.

@bobbinwales, I have read my letter as I have stated I would like to buy “used vehicles”. I don’t know why are you asking “parts”?!

@old_geezer, I’m going to send to big many haulage companies such as Eddie Stopper, Amazon etc. I don’t know where they are selling their used vehicles, that is purpose for this letter if they can pass such information. I have tried to goggle for their auctions but unsuccessfully. I have only come across one for Eddie Stopper, and that it was many years back, I think it was 2017. The only auctions for used commercial vehicles are from dealers who bought from these big companies and resell them.

Old_Geezer has basically answered your question but, as someone who spent a few years delivering used vehicles to auction, I'll point you towards the main UK auction sites:

Manheim are, without a doubt, leaders in the field (although they do tend to get more vans and light trucks than really big commercial vehicles):

Thank you for your input. Currently I’m dealing only with HGV. I have attended most of these auctions. I have bought some trucks at CVA auctions - Doncaster. However, there are some problems and one of them is, short window to inspect the vehicle. And also, majority of the HGVs are coming from dealer yards. So, anyone would be better off buying from their yards.
There are many benefits of buying from the big logistic companies such as UPS, big supermarkets, Eddie Stobart( now is called CULINA) etc. They have a good service history, good condition, easy to sell

I used to deliver quite a lot of ex-BT and Openreach vehicles to the dealers who'd bought them. Their fleets are primarily vans but they do have some HGVs too and, unless things have changed since my day, they sell directly to buyers, rather than through auction sites. So it might be worth trying to find out if they've got anything for sale which might be of interest to you.

I really appreciate your expertise on this matter.

I have been followed Manheim and CVA auctions for a while now but I have never come across many ex company hgvs. I have seen a few of them, I would find one from a big logistic company at particular auction and that happens not often. So, this made think, those big logistic companies might have been selling their fleets via another auction companies(not mainheim or CVA). So far, I have been able to find another auction company does auction for the MOD fleets. Probably, Mainheim and CVA do those auctions but I was not lucky enough to come across, maybe I need to pay more attention on their websites. The main reason I’m writing to these companies, is to find out if they are using different companies to conduct their auctions.

I would appreciate any input from you as I’m still learning this business and I would
like one day to have my own yard. Also, I’m trying to
check some insurance companies for accidental hgv

The majority of the vehicles that I delivered to auction were actually cars, with most of them being ex-lease vehicles. (e.g. company cars). While that's not directly relevant to you it occurs to me that there are HGV leasing companies in the UK who, for example, lease HGVs to the big supermarket chains to deliver from their own warehouses to their stores.

Simply googling 'HGV leasing' finds loads of such companies who must, just like car-leasing firms, frequently need to dispose of older vehicles. So perhaps asking those companies which auction sites they use (or how they otherwise sell their trucks) might help you to source vehicles for your business?
