card reader

i recently bought a card reader from aldi �5:99 and i cannot get it to install my soninlaw also had a go and couldnot do it so i went to the locl com shop in the market hall (5 mins away) he wanted �45:00 to come and put it on for me! can any one help me please. the reader is a tevion 8in1 card reader/writer. thanks in advance

Which operating system are you running and did any software come with the reader (or on the packaging does it say that you can download the software from somewhere)

Hi Vic my system runs in win xp the reader is compatable with win 98/me/2000/xp/macos9.x & higher inc USB cable. there is a disc with it but it doe's not down load it on my computer, but will down load elswhere i i hope this help as i am not very good with IT.

can you read any other disks as if it works fine on other pc's this may be your problem

yes i can run other progs. I think the best bet is to ask for my money back?

With Win XP you should not need to install a CD - it should find the card reader by itself. If it doesn't when you plug it into the USB port then I would suggest that you need a replacement as it is not working.

Maybe the problem is just that the CD is not auto-running when you put it in the drive. try putting the CD in the drive and then go in my computer and look on the CD drive and its folders, there should usually be a file somewhere called setup.exe, use search to find it if you don't see it, if you find it double click on it and it should run and install.

Forget about the CD - WinXP shouldn't need it. Do you have anything else that works on USB. This way you can check that the USB port is working. If it is, take the card reader back.
