Are the audiences on strictly come dancing instructed when to shout, scream and wowing like a load of over excited school kids. I happen to over hear it this weekend and it seems every time  a presenter opens thier mouths the screaming starts. I heard that a lot of screaming and shouting has been happening behind the scenes of late if you know what I mean. :0))

This constant shreiking and wowing seems to be something we've imported from the colonies; well, one former colony in particular. The programme makers seem to think it enhances the show; it just makes us turn off. I don't think I know a single person who uses the word "Wow" in normal speech but show participants seem to be prompted to use it all the time.

I record it and zoom through so I only see the dances and the scores.  I can't stand the racket.  I'm still trying to work out which dance the Bollywood thing this week was supposed to be.

"Couple's Choice", Naomi - anything goes.

The audience noise can be irritating, especially when it happens after, say, a not particularly thrilling lift.

Oh was it?  I couldn't catch what the announcer was saying and I didn't recognise the dance.  Thanks LiK.

11.43 bhg481. Well it does appear that the use of, fantastic and amazing on TV has been taken over by "WOW" Their was a guy on the Repair Shop last week who came in to collect his repaired item, and stood there repeating WOW, 5 times on the trot :0) any sort of travel programs specially the Joanna Lumley one, its WOW at everything she sees. So WOW is the new amazing. :0)))

Thanks LiK.

You're welcome, Naomi 😊 - can I get a "Seven!" ?

That deserves a TEN!

I stopped watching it years ago as I couldn't stand the noise plus the two women presenters got on my nerves.

Note to self: Stop typing WOW in my AB replies.

Next we'll be hearing AWESOME!!!! and OH. MY. GODDDDDD!!!

No, not false at all...giving somebody a standing ovation for managing to stay upright is a normal British reaction, isn't it?

LB, I stopped watching for a while just because of the hysteria.  Recording and zooming through work well for me.

Of course the audience is managed.  There is a warm up performance before filming starts, then stage managers directing the audience when to clap, cheer, be quiet etc.

There's also an off button.

We also record it and then skip through it.  I hate all that screaming too.  The bit when the lines open and all the professionals and judges start behaving really strangely makes me cringe.

I zoom that bit through too, BM.  And the Claudia and Tess bits - and the Oti whatshername bit.  Her voice is so shrill.  I just can't listen to it.

Good idea if I could bend down without falling over N.

Why do you have to bend down, LB?
