"Just Stop Oil’s initial demand to end new oil and gas is now government policy, making us one of the most successful civil resistance campaigns in recent history. We’ve kept over 4.4 billion barrels of oil in the ground and the courts have ruled new oil and gas licences unlawful. So it is the end of soup on Van Goghs, cornstarch on Stonehenge and slow marching in the streets."

evidence that protest can work?

drill baby drill...

IF the stop on drilling was due to their campaigning or Mad Milliband would have done it anyway all it has achieved is to ensure that we import supplies from more expensive and vastly bigger producers abroad.

Deluded duffers and workshy loafers declare victory in the shape of a goal-less draw.

Meanwhile vital resources continue to flow and hypocritical loonies still use cars, buses and planes.

Maybe they should continue protesting - in Saudi Arabia or Russia?🙄

It hasn't worked though has it? It's a spectacular failure. Ok so it's "government policy"...for now and thats because we have a complete loony in that area. This or a future government could flip that back at any time. More than that we are just one small user of fossil fuels. Id give them more credence if they got one of the big three to change something.

They're too dim to realise we've just off-shored much of our emissions.

I think they've bottled it, the authorities have started slingling them in the slammer and it's not fun any more. So they've declared "victory" so they can go back to sipping their lattes.

The British policy is, and has nothing to do with JSO; keep it in the ground and import it from elsewhere, using even more oil to do so and environmentally achieving zero.

Just stop Just Stop Oil, I say. A spokeswoman for JSO was on the radio yesterday claiming victory but she was torn to shreds by a guy (can't remember his name) who said all they have done is criminalise some of their followers who are now in jail when they should be planning for their futures, and will always have a criminal record to explain away. They have achieved nothing.

They need to remember pretty much all plastic packaging and the prit on it come from oil based products.

Just another cult who think they won.
