Have you got an actual question, or are you just riding your favourite hobbyhorse again ?

I think the question is "can we expect it here?"

I think we all know the answer to that.

Wouldn't it be nice if (just for once) banning something led to some women gaining freedom to choose?  Some will be afraid to abandon the niqab, of course for various reasons.  It'll need enforcement. But definitely a step on the right direction.

But if it's banned you are encroaching on the freedom of those women who WANT to wear it? innit

//Have you got an actual question,//

If you bothered to read the post clearly instead of through yout communist gogles you would see the question on the first line "can we expect that here"

The answer of course is no, thanks to people like Canary.

Nowhere in the Koran does it say women should cover themselves up completely, it says they should just dress 'modestly'. As I'm sure all the lady ABers already do (and the men too).

Rights sometimes clash and one has to decide which has priority.

Yes, an individual should be able to choose what they wear (safety and hygiene issues aside).

Yes the community has a right to know who, generally, someone is so evil doers can't hide; which means full cover isn't acceptable as a norm.

IMO the safety of the community trumps any desire to wear something outlandish. Consequently a ban on full identity hiding attire must take priority.  If you want to wear that sort of garment do so in the privacy of your own home, not in public.
