...for a Sunday dinner, or beef packed full of hormones and antibiotics, as the basis for meals.

If our country does accept these as part of some deal with 47 they'll probably go into processed meals, to be served in school canteens and similar places.

What action will you be taking to protect the health of your family?

Bagged salad is washed in chlorinated water.

What's wrong with chlorine anyway, isn't it in swimming bath water ?

I guess I'll buy British or Irish as I do now. If I feel the need to Americanise a meal I'll nip out and buy cheese in a spray can.

Sometimes used in swimming pools but more modern (public) ones have different anti-bacterial aids - Ultraviolent light treatment? 🤣

People are getting paranoid about it, encouraged by the anti American lefties.

People will buy what is cheapest for their budget.

Where that comes from and how it's processed is not usually a top priority.
But our government should put production and health requirements to import. If they don't then that is where people need to make a noise.

The US imports (as a lot of countries do) a lot of crap from China. People buy that crap so more is imported. It's for the importing country to stipulate the safety/health standards. The US wants to export their not so healthy (from our perspective) food products to us. We either put up with and buy their cheaper meat as is. Or put health stipulations on it before it enters our country.

If they can regulate the wattage of Al ithe bulb they can regulate the addatives in meat.

47?

I only buy British meat and that's not going to change

47 is the number of the beast, The Donald.

No such deal should be made. One of the primary red lines has to be that exported goods must confirm to the same standards as the importing nation demands of it's own producers. Anything else is abuse and allowed bullying.

Should any bunch of traitors sign up to it, one would have to ensure all foodstuffs bought were home produced.  (And we'd need to ensure we have sufficient new pikes for use at the Tower.)

Not heard that before. He is the 47th president, however ...

Couldn't care less.

Just read the labels,   I prefer to buy local if possible but if it means prices being lower some might benefit.

chlorinated chicken is banned here for very good reason.

the USA has far worse food hygiene standards than we do and their population is extremely unhealthy. nobody who cares about the UK should want this to be imposed on us.

unfortunately the US will likely insist that country of origin packaging will also be removed or exempted so british consumers will have a hard time avoiding their products.

British suppliers would surely have the sense to ensure origin was on their label. Those omitting it would be immediately under suspicion.

That's quite a sweeping statement, what is it based on?  Have you ever lived in, or visited the USA?

yes

It is generally accepted from the reading of issues from the Internet. Hormones for lifestock, antibiotics used regularly, necessary chlorine washes for chickens, overwashing eggs, etc..  The presented image isn't a rosy one. All down to profit rather than good practice, it seems.

the FDA also has permissable quantities of animal faeces, rodent hairs, insects and the like in some common products.

Untitled // yes//   Where were you when you found that they had,  "far worse food hygiene standards than we do" ?
