i have just bought a fifth generation 60gb video ipod. i already have the itunes software and music collection on my computer as i already have a mini ipod.
can i just plug my new ipod into my computer and transfer the songs onto it or do i need to install the software cd that came with the new one?
if i do install the software is it going to wipe off all the tracks i spent weeks loading into itunes?

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.no, your current iTunes will be fine, as long as it's the latest version. if you run iTunes, and goto help -> about, it'll say what version you have. current is 6.0.2.23 i believe.
just plug new iPod in, it'll ask if you want to use that library with that iPod, and click yes.
you will need to install a newer version of the iPod software though, just in case something goes wrong and you need to fix it:
