Laptop 700-1000?
Dear all,
Hoping someone might be able to help me with this. I want to buy a brand new laptop for no more than 1000, but don't mind spending this much. Can anyone recomment a brand/model I should get, or a website to check?
I just want it for personal work, internet, pictures, nothing too fancy etc. I've just seen a Sony vaio model that I quite like the look of. Anyone have any advice on this?
Thanks very much!

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.I have experience of using Sony, HP, Fujitsu, Dell and Acer laptops and have found that performance wise the are all pretty similar (If all the same spec). Sony's tend to be small and compact, HP's a liitle larger (bigger screens), Fujitsu's feel a bit flimsy and Acers are just naff. Dell's are pretty much in line with HP's. Obviously get one with features that you will use, don't pay for thing you won't use. Look for things like Hard Disk Space (at least 60gb), Processor Speed (Stay away from Celerons), Memory (at least 512mb probably 1028mb), Battery Life, DVD / CD Writing capability, Wireless LAN / Bluetooth.
Have a look here to compare specs and prices.
I find Ebuyer's prices to be some of the best around - this link should take you to their notebooks section:
If the link doesn't work for any reason, just go to www.ebuyer.com and choose the Notebook/Laptop category from the menu on the left!

though i've upgraded it to the pentium M processor (+23.50), and 6 cell battery (+11.75). 548 is a pretty good price for all that.
