Have a look here:

This describes my problem (when I receive an e-mail which contains a link to a web site, clicking on the link does not open it). My OS is XP Home.
Googling for "links in Outlook Express 6 do not open" or something similar reveal that I am not the only one to have this problem.
I have contacted Microsoft who referred me to the site above, and I have tried what it suggests without success. I have also tried 'regsvr32 ole32.dll' instead of 'regsvr32 urlmon32'.
In IE, Internet Options/Programs, the box alongside "Internet Explorer should check that it is the default browser" is checked.
In Outlook Express 6, Tools/Options/Security, the box alongside "Do not allow attachments to be saved or opened that could potentially be a virus" is unchecked.
The pop-up blocker is switched off.
Microsoft tell me to contact Dell and Dell tell me to contact Microsoft.
Does anybody have any other suggestions?

Well if you are running Outlook Express, I dont see how that article will help you, it deals with Outlook 2000 and 2002, neither of which is Outlook Express.
Try http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;823301 which deals with the same/similar problem when using Word or Outlook Express. If that does solve your problem, the problem may, in fact, be with Internet Explorer, in which case try http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;281679 which also deals with links not working when clicked in an email.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!
I tried the suggestions in your first link, but for the last command, I got an error message:
LoadLibrary(msjava.dll) failed - The specified module could not be found.
I then went to your second link and tried that, but I still have the same problem.
Do you think that a System Restore to a point before I had the problem would solve it?
