Burning DVD's

Having problems burning an avi.video file to a dvd disc. Nero starts to burn the disc but after 5 mins it throws the disc out with no error message. Any ideas what the problem may be? Do I need to convert the file ?

All of the CD writing software I use spits the CD/DVD out once it's written, I assume you have checked the disc to see if there is something on it?

Same happens to me one the disc is complete, but there's nothing on the disc when I play it back. I knew I should have read the error message !!

Nero always gives messages when it does something, whether it is an error or a normal action, that is if it completes a disc correctly it will tell you so and if there is a problem it will tell you so. Next time you write a disk stay by the PC and watch what nero is doing.
