Hi

I'm having a problem sending MS Outlook emails that have an attachment of 1MB and above (photos generally)

Is there a setting that I need to alter somewhere?

I have two emails that have been sitting in my Outbox for 3 weeks! All others sending OK though.

Any advice greatly appreciated!

Thanks

Helen

Outgoing mail size is set by the ISP, check your smtp settings on your ISP account. The account you are sending to may also have a limit, but this is well within what you say you are sending.

Thanks, but all I can find is Outgoing Server (SMTP): 25, which doesn't mean much to me. I can't find out how big a file is the limit and it repeatedly won't send...

Any further ideas?

Just an addition to that I discovered through experience. Assuming you do get to send it, if the person getting the mail is on dial up (I'm on broadband, I assume everyone is - wrong!!) it will take ages and ages and possibly freeze up their access.

Personally, I'd split the attachment if I can to far smaller chunks.

OK, I'll try that, but I'm trying to send to many people at once and that is frustrating in itself as so many serviers won't accept messages that are to more than five people... So I'll probably end up sending the thing about 200 times over once I've split the photos into chunks and my friends into chunks.

Blimey, is it worth it!!

Thanks all for posts.

the answer to your question might be YouSendIt here and it's completely free but size limit is 1Mg per mail..hope thats of some use
sorry said 1Mg...meant 1Gb
I don't quite understand what you said about sending it to many people. Until recently, I sent out a monthly newsheet to well over 100 people every month with no problems. I sent the main one to myself (partly to confirm, partly to respect privacy of email addresses) and the rest as blind carbons.

I'm not sure then, maybe it's my server (AOL) , but if I'm doing a mass email to friends or colleagues, I often have undeliverable email coming back with all the people it wouldn't deliver to, saying "Too many recipients" next to the reason for its return.
your ISP (aol, pipex, deamon etc) is not your mail client (outlook, eudora etc) Pop3 and smtp mail settings are made from your ISP login area, through the internet.
alterantively (guessing its the photos taking up the size) register with webshots, flickr etc (google em) and post photos there. send e-mail with links and any other docs
