Sound on PC

I have a PC with an apparently functioning soundcard. I got a new screen, with speakers attached. This monitor has the sound turned on, and volume raised, but I have no sound . Any suggestions?

I would imagine that you need to take the output from your sound card to your monitor instead of to the usual speakers - was there a wiring diagram? I just got a new computer and screen but it came with separate speakers rather than built-in.

Are you talking a hardware/physical wiring change, or a settings change?
