If I cannot use an S Video cable (the lap top s video port I'm told may be output only) to link my JVC mini dv camera to my lap top, is it possible to get a fire wire which plugs in a USB port (my lap top has no actual fire wire port)

Check out Maplin - I think they do a PCMCIA card with firewire input - not sure about USB.

This one says it is the only one in the world(!!) but it is pricey (comes with software) - �55. (Hope it isn't an April Fool)
