If I am wanting to save information to a disc - how do I know whether to write it to a cd or a dvd?

Do you have a DVD writer?


If it's just data, it doesn't matter. A DVD will hold approx 4.4GB, a CD approx 800MB

Depends on the file size of the information..

Typically a CD will hold up to 700MB of data, and a DVD 4.7GB.. also have to bear in mind who will need to use the data once its on disc, CD's will be readable by almost every computer nowadays, although DVD readers are becoming more common too.

sorry yeah CD is 700MB (80mis). DVD says 4.7GB, but in practise is around 4.4


My PC is 5yrs old and has DVD reader. Most have them, though not necesarily writers
